Privacy notice
Last updated 17 October 2026. This is a working draft for the private beta and will change before launch.
Blazing Video is a Mac app that records your screen, camera and microphone, lets you edit the recording, and (if you choose) shares it as a link. This notice explains what we handle, why, and what you can do about it. “We” means [Company name], [Registered address].
What stays on your Mac
Recordings, transcripts and edits are made and stored on your Mac. Transcription runs on your device. Nothing leaves your Mac unless you share a take (or have “Share automatically” switched on).
If you use the “Ask Claude” feature or connect Blazing Video to Claude Code, that runs through your own Claude account and software. We don’t receive those conversations; Anthropic’s terms and privacy policy apply to them.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign in we receive your email address and an account ID from our sign-in provider, Clerk. We use them to run your account, keep your links together and contact you about the service.
- Videos you share. When you share a take we store the video, a preview image, its title (the take’s name) and its length. While sharing is in progress we also store the parts uploaded so far.
- Signed-in Macs. Each Mac you sign in gets a device key. We store only a one-way fingerprint of it, with your account ID and the date.
- Technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider processes IP addresses and request details to deliver pages and video and to block abuse. We use IP addresses briefly for rate limiting and don’t store them with your account. Our logs don’t contain your email address or sign-in keys.
- Usage analytics (the Mac app). The app sends events about how it’s used — for example that a recording started, how long steps took, the app and macOS versions — with a random ID for your installation (and your account ID once you sign in). They never include your recordings, transcripts, screen content, file names or what you say. You can switch this off in the editor’s Settings.
- Crash and hang reports. If the app crashes or freezes, macOS gives it a diagnostic report on the next launch (where in our code it stopped, the app and macOS version), which the app sends with the usage analytics and under the same switch. These reports don’t contain your content.
- Views of shared videos. We count views of a share link (which link, how long the video is, and the website it was opened from) without identifying the viewer: no cookies, no IP address, and a new random ID for every view.
- Reports. If someone reports a shared video, we store the reason and any details they give, with a one-way fingerprint of their IP address so the same person can’t report the same link twice. We don’t store the IP address itself.
We don’t sell your data or show ads, and we don’t use advertising trackers.
Who can see your shared videos
A share link is unlisted, not private: anyone who has the link can watch the video, and can download or forward it. Only share what you’re comfortable with anyone holding the link seeing — check your screen for passwords, messages and other people’s information before you share.
Who we share data with
- Cloudflare hosts the website and stores shared videos.
- Clerk provides sign-in and stores your account details.
- PostHog (EU hosting) stores the usage analytics, crash reports and view counts described above. It receives the IP address of your Mac with each app event and may use it to estimate your country.
They act on our instructions. Some of them process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires. We may also disclose data if the law requires it or to protect people from harm.
How long we keep it
- Shared videos: until you delete the link (at My links or in the app) or close your account. Deleting a link removes the video from storage straight away; cached copies stop being served at once and expire shortly after.
- Account details: while your account is open, then up to 30 days.
Cookies
Signing in uses cookies set by Clerk that are needed to keep you signed in. We don’t use any other cookies.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to stop. Email [contact email]. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Children
Blazing Video isn’t meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we’ll tell signed-in users by email before it takes effect.
