How to let Claude edit your videos

You can edit a Blazing Video take by hand in a minute or two. Or you can say what you want and have Claude do it, while you get on with something else.

What you need

Blazing Video running on your Mac, and either Claude Code or the Claude app. Claude uses your existing Pro or Max plan. There’s no API key to create and nothing extra to pay. Everything happens on your Mac: Claude talks to Blazing Video over a local connection that only apps on your Mac can reach.

Connect it once

In Claude Code, add the plugin. It brings the connection and a skill that knows the record, edit and share workflow:

/plugin marketplace add acstener/takes-plugin
/plugin install takes@takes

For the Claude app, or for the other ways to connect, follow the steps on the MCP setup page.

Things to say

  • “Record this.” Claude starts a recording, waits for you to stop it, then has the transcript and the link.
  • “Cut the ums and tighten the pauses.” Fillers go, long pauses shrink, in one step.
  • “Cut the false starts and keep the best take of each line.” Claude reads the transcript and cuts word by word.
  • “Trim the start and the ‘ok, stop’ at the end.”
  • “Put my camera bottom-left as a circle and use the dusk background.”
  • “Share it.” The link lands on your clipboard. Ask again after more edits and the same link updates.
  • “Export it as an MP4.” It’s saved to your Movies folder.

Claude checks its own work

Claude can pull a still of the edited video at any moment, so after restyling it can look at the frame and fix what’s off. Every edit is undoable, by Claude or by you in the editor, and the editor shows the changes as they happen.

Not just your own recordings

Point Claude at any video file: “watch ~/Downloads/feedback.mp4 and turn it into a to-do list”. It reads the transcript and up to twelve key frames, and opens the video in the Blazing Video editor in case you want to cut it too.

Or ask from inside the editor

If you’d rather not leave the editor, the Claude panel takes the same requests: type “cut the waffle, tighten the intro” and watch the cuts appear. It runs your own Claude Code on your Mac.
