Why we built a Mac-only Loom alternative

Loom made the quick screen video normal. Instead of a meeting, you record five minutes and send a link. We use that habit every day, and Blazing Video exists because we wanted it to feel instant on a Mac.

The trade-off: one platform, done properly

Blazing Video only runs on the Mac (macOS 15 or later). That’s a real cost: if you or your team record on Windows or in a browser, it isn’t for you yet. But it’s also where the speed comes from. Being native means the screen, camera and microphone are already running while the recording island is up, so pressing ⌥⇧R starts recording in about 0.3 seconds. The video uploads while you talk, so when you stop there’s almost nothing left to send, and the link on your clipboard plays about 1.6 seconds later.

Words first

Every take is transcribed on your Mac, on the Neural Engine, while you record. The transcript is ready a fraction of a second after you stop, and every word is timed against the audio. That transcript is the editor: delete words to cut the video, cut fillers and tighten pauses in one click each. It also goes out with the link, as a clickable transcript and captions for people watching with the sound off.

Edit after you send

A quick video is usually sent before it’s perfect. With Blazing Video, editing after sharing is normal: make your cuts, press Update Link, and the link you already sent plays the new version.

Your own Claude as the editor

Blazing Video has an MCP server built in, so Claude Code or the Claude app can record, cut, restyle and share for you on the plan you already pay for. “Cut the ums, tighten the pauses and share it” is a whole edit. Here’s how to set it up.

When Loom is the better pick

  • You record on Windows or in a browser. Blazing Video is Mac only, for now.
  • Your team already works in Loom and relies on what it has set up there.
  • You need a finished product today. Blazing Video is a private beta, and things will change.

Try it side by side

Blazing Video is free during the private beta. Record the same thing in both and time it. The full comparison, with an FAQ for switching, is on the Loom alternative page.
